When combined with a variable imaged letter, our mailing system offers many benefits to your customer. The unique capabilities of our Bell & Howell MailStar 500 offer features that can create truly unique and individualized mailings for one-to-one marketing. Key features are:

Demand feed of multiple page sets.
Using an OCR character code, the machine can accumulate multiple page sets and then fold them as a single set. The maximum number of pages in one set is seven if the set is to be folded. An unlimited number of sheets can be accumulated for off-line handling.
Selective inserting from any of the 10 input stations.
This feature allows our clients to pick and choose the documents to go with any specific source document by utilizing the OCR code on the source
document. For example, a bank statement can contain a brochure for new car loans to a recent college graduate, while the next customer receives a brochure for mortgages. Both might receive information on a new credit card offering. This intelligent selection is driven by the customer’s data base.
Verification of the number of pages in a set can be verified before processing the set for folding and inserting.
Dual postage meters are utilized for up to two different weights for metering.
Any piece that exceeds a preset limit can be diverted for special processing.
Up to three stations can be designated for intelligent merchandising.
Utilizing a computerized weighing system, these stations will only insert if the piece can be added without exceeding a predetermined weight limit. This is particularly useful when the base document varies in length (bank statements for example) and the insert would cause the piece to fall into the next postage bracket.
